There are 3 days until Christmas. Two days left to shop, wrap, send cards, etc.
There’s 10 days left in 2011. Eight days to sit my butt in my chair and pound out about 5,000 words to meet my deadline, write 4 inspiring blog posts, spend quality time with DH during his vacation, enjoy Tiny Tot’s birthday, get DH’s business papers in order for tax season, etc.
Every year I swear I’ll be better organized. It has yet to happen.
When we start the new year it feels like we have all the time in the world. By Thanksgiving the year’s clock sounds like a time bomb.
The one thing I’ve learned is, although making your deadline is a high priority and things like taxes have to be done on time, enjoying those precious moments with loved ones is much more important.
If you’re really organized, maybe you can fit it all in, but, for those of us who aren’t, don’t sweat it. Few people wish they’d done more stuff over wishing they’d spent more time with those that matter most to them at the end of their life.
Will I get it all done before midnight New Year’s Eve? I hope so.
Will the world end if I have to push back my deadline a few days or the presents are wrapped in bags instead of pretty paper because I choose to enjoy some precious moments? Highly unlikely.
Have a happy holiday season.
How do you deal with the ticking clock?
