God Works In Mysterious Ways — Even With Writers

writing craft books and blog posts

It’s no surprise to me that God works in mysterious ways, though sometimes exactly what those ways are is surprising.

Monday I think God was helping me work on my book cover for Apprentice Cat. I know that sounds strange unless you’re used to God reaching into your life and gently guiding you toward things you need, but it’s true. Here’s the story:

I was on BigStockPhoto.com just getting ready buy the image for the print edition cover for my upcoming release, had the image in my cart even, when I thought, “Maybe I should double check their standard use agreement since I want to use this for both print and ebook.”

As I was trying to figure out the legal stuff on the agreement I hear this odd blonking sound from my computer.

“What in the world was that?” I thought.

When I looked at the long list of tabs on my browser, one of them was blinking. (Yeah, I open a lot of new tabs when I’m researching because I hate using the back button.) I clicked on the blinking tab and a chat box popped up. It was a sales person asking if there was anything he could help me with. I couldn’t help but laugh because I could see God’s fingerprints all over that. I’d just been thinking it would be great if I could just ask someone what to do about using one image for two covers.

I asked my question, found out I needed to buy the image twice (which I think is fair considering it’ll be used for two different things) and proceeded to check out.

Sure, you could chalk it up to coincidence. They probably check with everyone about to purchase an image. I, however, know God works in mysterious ways and I choose to believe God is in control of even the little things. We just need to pay attention.
